      We Are the Bedouin Bumpers!

      by Pamela Treme

Enjoy Pamela Treme's irreverent farewell to belly dancing, performed at a seminar show just before she dropped out of the scene.

Belly Dancing Bellydancing Belly Dance Bellydance Belly Dancers

Sung to the tune of Give My Regards to Broadway!

      We are the Bedouin Bumpers
And we bump every chance we get -- You Bet!
We are the naughty bawdy kinky broads
      Because we belly dance!

      We rotate these Grade-A ru-u-umps
In the hopes of remolding them
      Into a more compa-act form
So we can wear our jeans again

      We are the Bedouin Bumpers
And we bump every chance we get -- Opa!
We are the naughty bawdy kinky broads
      Because we belly dance!

All of our friends they ask us
Weird questions that have to do with sex
How are we suppose to answer them
When all we ever do is dance? (Here, look extremely innocent and confused.)

      We are the Bedouin Bumpers
And we bump every chance we get - Oh yea!
We are the naughty bawdy kinky broads
      Because we belly dance!

A woman can't dance and be smart
It a combination no one believes
Only an airhead would this stuff
How do you explain all our degrees? (3 PhDs in the group and only God knows how many other degrees!)

      We are the Bedouin Bumpers
And we bump every chance we get -- Oh yeah!
We are the naughty bawdy kinky broads
      Because we belly dance!

      About The Author

About Pamela Treme, formerly Susiana of New Orleans, Louisiana, in her own words:

I've been out of dancing for 10 years. However, as one of my final acts of rebellion, I (along with several other malcontent dancers) sang the attached song as the close to a workshop show that occurred in the French Quarter in New Orleans. After 17 years of taking The Dance so seriously, I just wanted to have some fun. Some dancers were truly aghast -- others just about died laughing. The audience roared and cheered.
